DJ Darren Revell: Music & Kung Pao Kitty...

Hey All!

Darren here. Wanna start off by thanking my good friend Shok for putting this blog together and keeping the word out there on the web about our First Fridays. What? You haven't checked out our First Fridays at Medusa? Well stay tuned here and on our MySpace page www.myspace.com/revellshok for details on our next night(s)...

Here's some new and not-so-new stuff I'm listening to...

-Fever Ray - This is Karin Dreijer Anderson's (The Knife) solo project. Pretty cool!

-The Prids - I recently saw The Prids downtown @ Silver Factory Studios and bought their cd "Until The World Is Beautiful" (2006). They hail from Portland and have a post-punk/shoegaze vibe about them which right up my alley.

-Deerhunter - "Microcastle" the album from last year.

-Lily Allen & Mick Jones - "Straight To Hell". Yes Lily Allen and the great Mick Jones covering one of his own Clash classics! It's really good! From the new compilation "War Child Presents Heroes".

-TV On The Radio - "Heroes". Another cover from the new compilation "War Child Presents Heroes". And yes, It's the Bowie song.

-Doves - "Kingdom Of Rust". Slowly soaking in this new album. Love their unique sound.

-Royksopp - The new album is called "Junior". Karin Dreijer Anderson (The Knife) makes her second appearance with Royksopp on two tracks this time out. Lykke Li and Anneli Drekker (Bel Canto) are also guest vocalists.

-Bat For Lashes - I had the chace to interview Natasha Khan aka Bat For Lashes in Big Sonic Heaven a couple times. She matches her music! Listen for yourself. The new album is called "Two Suns". My favourite song right now is "Daniel".

And finally...

I've started a new night at KUNG PAO KITTY EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT. Hey! That's TONIGHT! Come out and enjoy some great cocktails at not-so Hollywood prices. And a special $1 shot @ midnight! And of course I'll be spinning! It's a great Tuesday night vibe with no weekend Hollywood idiots in your face. =:) Hope to see you TONIGHT! Oh yeah, there's NO COVER.

Cheers!

Darren
