Setlist, Photos & More
If you have not seen the photos, please do!
Comment, Tag & Discuss!
Just after midnight, we held the Thriller dance!
The above photo features some of us doing our rehearsal, just moments before taking the floor. Our friend Aaron (MissingToof.com) surprised me with the Thriller Jacket, which I kept in a red duffel bag until we were about to begin!
I mixed segments of the instrumental version of Thriller with the acappella of the Vincent Price thriller rap, audio/ dialoge from the music video and my own instruments to create a great presentation that began with the dance and ended with a large room of folks singing together karaoke style as lyric sheets had been handed out to everyone.
If you have video or additional photos, please share!
We have lots in store for the party on the 3rd of August! Details coming.
I will make another post lincuding the tracklisting of our monthly CD giveaway as well as a downloadable version which includes all sorts of tasty tunes!

VOTD: Jackson's Last Dance
The video for the day is Michael Jackson's rehearsal for what was to be his upcoming world tour.
I do not have cable not even a traditional TV and I do not have a radio, so I know I have not be as inundated as most folks with coverage. It is still fresh and being that his music was instrumental in my affinity toward music, there is a persistent sting in the heart for this loss.
I was still a fan and even admired some of his more recent work like "2000 Watts" and "Earth Song".
Here is one of his final performances.
Btw, I am delighted that so many people have been RSVPing for this coming evening's First Fridays event at Medusa Lounge :) I saw Darren Revell earlier this evening at Kung Pao Kitty, on my way home from work and he is just as excited. David J. was djing there and sadly he can not attend, but I will get David to do a Bela Lugosi Michael Jackson song one day!
Signing off and getting back to working on my Thriller mix for the midnight Zombie Dance routine. If you can attend and or join in the dance or bring a camera, still or video, drop me a line :)
Best Wishes and enjoy the video!

First Fridays & Thriller, July 3rd @ Medusa Lounge LA
Join us next Friday, July 3rd, to celebrate the beginning of an amazing Summer of Life, Music & Dance!
We have lots of special treats & surprises in store.
It was a very sad day for many on June 24th with the passing of Michael Jackson. His music and artistry had a profound effect on my life. From his forward thinking, yet hugely pop-structured songs to avant garde futuristic military fashions to groundbreaking music videos featuring worldly influential dance routines, motion picture quality special effects and even Captain EO, he managed to influence culture on a myriad of levels.
As a young fellow, I remember watching THRILLER's debut on MTV at a friend's house party. Nearly our entire school class gathered to watch this world-wide premiere. I later would think it was cool to entertain friends, having learned the entire dance moves to his routines from the videos such as Thriller and Bad. I can still rock the moonwalk! I have to thank MJ influencing my affinity with music and entertaining in general to have become a musician and performer.
So in memory of Michael Jackson, along with the ingredients which create our monthly party so well received by you, we are featuring a midnight presentation of the famed THRILLER DANCE.
If you would like to join the special routine and have even halfway decent dancing skills, please contact me fda@newgrounds.com
Seeking videographers, photographers and zombies!
The party runs from 9-2am. The colors red, black and silver, Michael Jackson jacket or sparkly glove are strongly encouraged.
Millenium Products, is once again, providing Synergy Drinks & Kombucha Tea (FREE) for rehydration after you have been dancing madly!
Darren Revell (Big Sonic Heaven, Indie 103.1fm) and I will be spinning a variety of music to get you rocking the dancefloor fever!
From Depeche Mode to Sonic Youth, Ladytron to Duran Duran, The Stone Roses to The Prodigy, Stevie Wonder to Killing Joke, The Cult to Royksopp, Ministry to Justice, Alex Metric to IAMX, we have you covered.
FREE RevellShok July Top Picks Mix CDs will be handed out during the night!
FOOD at Medusa Lounge is fantastic too, so save room for delicacies!
FREE admission from 9-10pm with RSVP and $5 after.
Bring your cameras & comfy shoes. Be prepared to have an amazing party.
We look forward to seeing you!!!

First Fridays = First Saturday for PEEP!
We are NOT holding FIRST FRIDAYS @ Medusa Lounge this week, due to a pre-existing engagement booked from before we began.
We will be celebrating life, spring, sensuality, art and dance this Saturday, the 2nd, however at Infusion Gallery.
There are some amazing artists showing their photography and music will go on and on as long as you can keep dancing. There is a bar and possibly some Peeps for food.
Darren Revell and I will spin a wide variety of delightful music with a few surprises and guests along the way.
I will be giving away several CDs of the RevellShok Top Fives compilation, which includes Darren's top five and my top five songs we have selected for the month of May.

VOTD: Depeche Mode TV & Moby & David Lynch animation
2. David Lynch visualizes Moby
I am headed to see DEPECHE MODE a bit later today.
The band is performing at Hollywood and Vine to promote 'SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE' on the Jimmy Kimmel show, which just dropped into circulation on the 20th and 21st, depending on your territory, however, it's quiet or rather leaked presence has been around for over the last few months.
Helicopters are already out, surveying. There is an expected 10 thousand + turnout for this spectacle. I will report more later.
Below is a German commercial, featuring the band, for the new album, priced @ 9.99
The other video of the day comes from someone from my past, Moby.
This animation is directed by David Lynch and is good for a Silvery Day such as the morning here in Hollywood. You can download the mp3 for FREE on www.moby.com

VOTD: Tiga - Shoes & FixmerMcCarthy DJset tonight
2. Douglas McCarthy & Terrence Fixmer DJ Set tonight @ SyncSpace
In the last two weeks, this song has become an anthem for anyone who has been to my home. You may recall Tiga for his "Sunglasses At Night" electro remake or his remake of "Hot In Here", which has an amazing video.
"Shoes" is by far his most infectious, even more than "Mind Dimension" and "Ocean Drive" two other hits of his. Enjoy the wacky 80s influenced video below.

In case you missed their performance on Friday @ Das Bunker or if you simply want to check their DJ set, Fixmer McCarthy will drop music tonight at SyncSpace, the art gallery.
I have a recording session at 6:30, so I am hoping to get there by 10:30 or so.
Tomorrow is also Depeche Mode, which excites me! Are you going?
